Solid hardwood, installed to last
Solid hardwood is milled from one piece of wood and can be refinished many times. We install red oak, white oak, hickory, maple and other species in strip and wide-plank widths, prefinished or unfinished for sanding and finishing on site.
What a proper install includes
- Moisture testing of the subfloor and the flooring before installation.
- Subfloor prep: securing loose areas, flattening high and low spots.
- Underlayment or vapor retarder where the manufacturer requires it.
- Layout planned around rooms, hallways and doorways for straight, balanced runs.
- Nail-down installation with correct expansion gaps at walls.
- Stair treads, nosing, thresholds and transitions to other floors.
Hardwood over a concrete slab
Most homes in North Texas are built on concrete slabs. Solid hardwood is not recommended directly over concrete, so for slab homes we usually install engineered hardwood instead, or build a plywood subfloor over the slab. We explain the options and costs during your free estimate.
Prefinished or site-finished
Prefinished floors arrive with a factory finish and are ready to use the day they are installed. Site-finished floors are sanded flat after installation and stained to any color you choose, giving a smooth, seamless surface.
