Real wood built for Texas slabs
Engineered hardwood has a top layer of real hardwood bonded to a plywood or composite core. The cross-layered core moves less with humidity than solid wood, which makes it the most common hardwood choice for slab homes across Dallas–Fort Worth.
Installation methods
- Glue-down over concrete: a solid feel underfoot, common for slab homes.
- Floating: boards click together over an underlayment, a fast option for many rooms.
- Nail or staple-down over wood subfloors, like solid hardwood.
We choose the method based on your subfloor, the product and the manufacturer requirements, and we test moisture in the slab before any glue-down install.
Why wear layer thickness matters
The real-wood wear layer decides how many times the floor can be sanded and refinished later. Thicker wear layers cost more up front but can be refinished when the finish wears, extending the life of the floor.
Where it works best
Living rooms, bedrooms, offices, dining rooms and kitchens with normal care. For laundry rooms, bathrooms and areas with standing water we recommend luxury vinyl plank or tile.
